The House of Robinson

The Hubby and I are THRILLED to share that we are officially building our first home! We had been looking for an older home and decided the better route for us was to build. For the past 6 months we have been going around talking to different builders and looking at different neighborhoods. Finally, it has all fallen into place! On October 4, 2012 we signed a little slip of paper to get it all started!

We are so excited and couldn't wait to take a picture of that sold sign!
It will take approximately 6 months to build depending on the weather which puts us moving in sometime during April of 2013! I can't believe we are building a house!!

I don't think we had prepared ourselves for what to expect. There are so many little decisions that have to be made and they are ALL up to us! I am sure we will be able to handle it all but that doesn't mean we might not have a few panic attacks along the way. lol

On Monday, November 19th of 2012, the Hubby and I met with Amanda, the design and architectural consultant, to go over all the small details of the actual house itself. Below is our new floor plan!

We were able to pick out where we wanted our windows, doors, ceiling heights, cable and ethernet hook ups, and even the light switches! Kevin and I both left with headaches from all the decision making! We still have two more meetings to go for flooring, finishes, lighting, etc. I just hope we can survive them!  It has been a really amazing experience so far and I can't wait to keep track of it all on this blog!

Messages From Cookies

I am not one for believing the non-sense fortunes I typically see in those fortune cookies I get at chinese restaurants. You know, the ones that every one says you should add "in bed" to the end every time. Sometimes they turn about to be really funny and typically they don't relate to anything in real life but I have to admit... the last few I have gotten have been spot on and it's a little creepy!

The first one I posted about back in July when Kevin and I moved in with his parents.
Like I said in my earlier post... it was actually perfect timing because I was starting to really worry about whether we were doing the right thing.

*As of last month we are officially building our first house!!*

The next fortune cookie came the night I decided to call my wonderful friend's mother about applying for a job at the company she worked for. I had been debating for weeks if I should do it or not. I knew I was miserable at my current job and I was just nervous it wasn't going to be what I wanted or that I wouldn't even be considered.
It was almost like it was the exact statement I needed to hear. As soon as we got home I picked up the phone and then sent in an application! My friend Katie's mom was more than willing to help!

The next one is kind of blurry. Somehow I managed to eat chinese a second time at the end of that same week... I have no idea how that happened!!   (It's kinda a problem I have. haha) I had not heard anything back about the application and was starting to think I might not. I was really having a hard time at my job and I was starting to wonder how much longer I could deal with it all and still be happy. I opened up the fortune cookie and this is what I read.
SEE!! CREEPY RIGHT?!

I tried to be patient and a week later I got a call. I did two interviews over the phone, took a couple of tests, and then had an interview in person... I wasn't out of the building before they offered me the job! I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful I am for Katie's mom. I know I would not have been considered for an interview let alone for the actual job itself had it not been for her!

The last one came on my last day at my old job. I worked in retail and it had been a CRAZY busy Saturday. Not only was I exhausted and had to close the store on my last shift but the other manager that had opened had done NOTHING that day so I knew I wasn't going to get out anytime before midnight! I managed to take a 15 min break and picked up this fortune cookie....
I laughed it off but in the back of my mind I kept thinking that I really hoped I would be part of a real team that actually does work cooperatively for success unlike the team I was currently on.

I can officially say that this one was exactly right too! At my new job we are seriously divided up in actual teams and I have never been a part of a team that has worked so well together. See CREEPY! I don't think I'll be shrugging off my fortune cookies again for a while! haha

On a serious note, I do think this was a little bit of comfort sent down in God's perfect timing and in just another random and unexpected way!

Cutest Nephew Ever!!

Since we moved back I have been watching my nephew once a week on my day off and I love it! He is growing up so fast. He is now crawling and laughing. It is so much fun to watch him learn new things. I thought I would share some pics from the last few times I have watched him. If you can't tell by the pics... He figured out how to pull himself up and stand! Now that's all he wants to do!

Tuesday aka. Sunday

Day Two of our weekend was spent reminiscing our college years.

Tuesday (aka. "Sunday") I had to wake up early to go to a meeting at work but when I got home the Hubby and I jumped in our car and headed up to the wonderful Stillwater, Oklahoma.
We had been craving some Eskimo Joe's and new OSU COWBOYS shirts! haha This is a yearly tradition we have of driving up to Stilly and spending an afternoon walking around the small town shopping so of course we were up for it since the high today was only 90 degrees! It was wonderful compared to the 110 degree weather we have been having.

Of course we had to stop by Eskimo Joe's for the best bacon cheese fries EVER!
If you have never been you should really go! And if you have been I'm sure you'll agree that they are the best! This is the one and only Eskimo Joe's! It has been expanded about 20 times but they have yet to build another one in Stilly or anywhere else for that matter.
After eating lunch we walked around campus and the local shops until we found the new shirts we wanted. It was great motivation to get me excited about this football season because everywhere we walked you could hear the marching band and drum line practicing!

We are definitely ready for Cowboy football to start up!

Monday aka. Saturday

With our schedules being abnormal the Hubby and I actually had two days off in a row together! We crammed as much as we could into those two days possible.

We, of course, chose to sleep in on Monday (aka. "Saturday")! How could you not? It was wonderful! We then went shopping at the mall. I found this cute necklace for $15 and these nude heels for only $12! I had been looking for a cute pair for weeks and didn't want to spend $80 on them. They are actually surprisingly comfy! The Hubby decided the tennis shoes he was wearing were old/warn out and he needed a new pair so he picked out these gray and orange Nike shoes. I actually really like them!
After shopping we decided to go to the movies and see Campaign, the new Will Ferrel movie. It was okay, not as good as I wanted it to be, but it was something fun to do with the Hubby. Monday night we had to be home in time for the Dallas Cowboys preseason football game. Yep... that's right, football has started! So we ordered in some Pizza and watched the game. It was great!

Zoo Fun

The first day the Hubby and I had off together since I had been back we decided to go to the Zoo...of course! lol I told you we love to do this at least once every summer so this was it! We decided we wanted to take my nephew so we had to convince my sister (his nanny for the summer) and her boyfriend to tag along. It wasn't as hard as we thought. lol

My little Sis and my Nephew are the cutest!
I love his confused face in this picture with his big orange baseball cap!

It was a lot hotter than we were expecting so we only made it about two hours but it was fun. The nephew only lasted about 30 minutes before he was asleep in his stroller. lol We didn't stay long enough to go see the baby elephant (I was pretty upset) but we did go through the "Oklahoma Trails" part. It has all the different animals that are found in Oklahoma. The ones we weren't expecting to see was the MOB of yellow jackets that not only stopped us in our tracks but then convinced us to run all the way back around the trail. haha In no way or form did we want to be the ones in charge of our nephew the first time he got stung by a yellow jacket (ok... we ran because we didn't want to get stung either! haha) There were at least 15 of them though I swear!!

It was a fun little outing! I know the Hubby had fun bonding with his nephew!

A TV With No Cord

The week alone in my apartment was probably the longest week of my life. Partly because it was a week away from my Hubby and fur baby but more because I was in an EMPTY apartment.

When I say empty I literally mean I had...

An Air Mattress
Cleaning supplies
A coffee table to throw away
Just enough cloths to last
Two boxes of Candles
Two boxes of pictures
And my mixer
So I really mean an EMPTY apartment!

Oh... I also had my 19" TV with a DVD player but like an idiot I packed the power cord for it. Yeah... what was I thinking?! lol So it just sat there reminding me what I could be doing. It was great, let me tell you!

The night before I worked my last shift I decided to get Pei Wei to-go and eat on my air mattress by myself. If you haven't figured it out we like Pei Wei. It's a chinese restaurant and yummy! The funny part was that I opened my fortune cookie to find this...
How ironic is this?! I am packing up my car and turning in my keys the next morning to go move in with the in-laws to save up for a house!  Not even going to lie that I was starting to stress about whether we were making the right decision to do that and I kinda felt like this was affirmation from God. I feel like God has always used random scripture and quotes to talk to me all the time and this could not have come at a better time!

The next day I went to work, came home, squeezed everything I could in my car (had to throw away the box of candles because it wouldn't fit. lol Figured they would be the easiest thing to replace!) and turned in my keys. I had no idea my vacuum cleaner would be riding shot gun! Haha
I had never been that excited to make the drive back to my hometown!
